LoveNote for Lovers. . . When you have disagreements, watch for the appropriate opportunity to share what is really in your heart. Little, if any progress can be made during meltdown. Allow a time for cooling off. This is a time when you must work together to create a space for each love partner to express their feelings without any fear that it isn't safe to do so. Listen. Communicate. Give up your attachment to being right and settle for a win/win solution that serves both love partners equally. LoveNote for Lovers. . . A love relationship anchored in unconditional love can survive the roughest storm. Trust puts you in the same boat. . . side-by-side. . . working on learning to trust, and trusting. . . together! Trust has you both rowing in the same direction. LoveNote for Lovers. . . Affirmation - In a healthy love relationship there is always movement, at first toward intimacy, at other times toward withdrawal and distance. I am secure in my love relationship and never panic during a difficult phase of withdrawal. I unconditionally love my partner and remember my commitment to do whatever it takes to encourage the experience of balance in our love relationship. LoveNote for Lovers. . . It is always possible for you to direct the energy of anger in another completely different direction, even though it may not seem so at the time. The same energy you expend on anger, when re-directed, can be put to use in a much more useful direction. Think about it. If you choose to shorten your attention span on what makes you angry, you can immediately put that same energy to use by focusing on the solution to the upset that caused the anger in the first place. The other day, my wife and I got into some petty argument. (I say it was petty. She would say it was Armageddon). As is our nature, neither of us would admit the possibility that we might be in error.
To her credit, she finally said, "Look, I'll tell you what. I'll admit I'm wrong if you admit I was right."
"Fine," I said.
She took a deep breath, looked me in the eye and said, "I'm wrong."
I grinned and replied, "You're right."
