The famous "I Have A Dream" speech by Martin Luther King, Jr., is timeless in its ability to inspire. In fact, no matter how often I hear that speech, I get goose bumps because of the power that emanates from it! Yet, the more I listened to King's message, the more I realized the pure power of four words: I-Have-a-Dream... I-Have-a-Dream! He didn't say "I had a dream," but rather "I have a dream."

Why is this so important? Because ongoing success requires that your dreams are ongoing! To say, "I had a dream" implies that the dream has come and gone. But to have a dream means that it is continuous and still evolving.

Do you have a dream? Is there a dream burning in your mind and spirit that consumes you; keeps you awake a night; causes you to daydream about the possibilities; drives you to pursue it; and to eventually achieve it? I had a dream about creating short motivational messages that busy people could use to get energized and focused for the day.

After several years of hounding many different radio stations, I finally got an opportunity with a radio station in Washington, DC. Now I'm paid for my "short form" programming from stations around the country. And my ongoing dream is to take the concept to television.

I also noticed Dr. King did not say, "I have a wish." Why? Wishes have no substance and are usually unattainable... like those who say "I wish I could live my life over again," or "I wish I were a child again." Most of us have thrown pennies into a wishing well or wished upon a star. We never really expected those wishes to come true! They were just our fantasies!

But a dream... it has substance! We dream of losing weight or buying a home or one day becoming the President of the United States. We can take those dreams, write out our goals and action plans and turn them into reality!
